Jorge Tarallo, known best for his paintings of Native Americans and western landscapes, was born in Montevideo, Uruguay in 1951, where he began his art education at the National Arts School.

He relocated to the US in 1972 at the age of 21, settling in Southern California, where Tarallo focused on his career as a painter and chose to market his art under the name Braun.

Many collectors have followed his work in gallery exhibitions in Montevideo, Buenos Aires, Sao Paolo, Rio de Janeiro, Paris, New York, Chicago and now in Newport, Oregon’s Roger Yost Bay Street Gallery.

Yost added Tarallo’s art because, he said, “Few artists have mastered Tarallo’s balance of lighting and shadows.”

Others have noted a similarity to that of Rembrandt in his landscapes and seascapes, but Braun considered himself to be an impressionist painter focusing on realism. Tarallo signed his paintings J.T. Braun, and his adopted name of Braun is generally how he is recognized.

He died in 2013.
